<title>Indicorps Fellowship: Service for the Soul</title>
		  <link>http://www.ngojobs.in/view_opportunity.php?inqId=27</link>
<description>The Indicorps fellowship is a profound personal experience and an opportunity to understand participatory development through intense voluntary service. The structured program encourages participants to leave their comfort zones, place others' interests before their own, test their own potential to affect change, explore their relationship with India, and understand what it means to lead by committing themselves to innovative grassroots projects. Indicorps believes that giving one's time and energy, without any attachment to the outcome, regardless of the circumstances, is an unparalleled personal experience in service. At the same time, the fellowship is a chance for fellows to address their own identity, recognize their personal boundaries, and understand how to produce change in their environment(s). The fellowship is deeply rewarding, a transformational and challenging personal journey, and part of Indicorps’ collective experiment for change.

Apply now: http://apply.indicorps.org/

Complete applications and supplemental materials due (postmark date) 01 Mar, 2010

Approach to development:
Indicorps’ approach to development involves a total investment of body, mind and soul into the process of “being the change.” Fellows take individual personal responsibility to execute and complete projects, defined in partnership with local development organizations, that address particular community challenges. Recognizing the project as a foundational cornerstone or platform for change, Indicorps pushes fellows to actively test their and creatively explore the possibilities of community-oriented leadership.

More about the Fellowship program:

Each year, Indicorps selects young professionals of Indian origin for one and two year service fellowships with grassroots service organizations in India. To be eligible for the fellowship program, you must be a person of Indian origin (Government of India definition) and have at minimum a university degree or five years work experience. Individuals apply specifically to projects of their interest.

The first month of the fellowship involves an -intense, physically and mentally rigorous, month-long orientation to India, the Indicorps philosophy, and practical living. In conjunction with grassroots fieldwork, Indicorps also requires fellows to attend periodic workshops that encourage participants to deepen their understanding of Indian development, to reflect, to share progress, to collectively solve problems, and to re-energize. Some fellows opt for a second year to broaden their understanding of development and take leadership in managing projects or Indicorps programs.

The fellowship has stringent documentation requirements and promotes self-accountability. The program is carefully crafted to consider long-term impact and to defy common critiques of both international volunteers and the organizations with which they work.

Indicorps provides a nominal stipend to enable fellows to live simply and work in India for the duration of their fellowship. Basic room, board, and fellowship-related travel are covered by Indicorps or the local project partner organization. Indicorps is a total immersion program and encourages fellows to be a part of their communities to the greatest extent possible - including attempting to live within the means of their location.

		  <title>Family Health International </title>
		  <link>http://www.ngojobs.in/view_opportunity.php?inqId=96</link>
<description>Family Health International (FHI) is dedicated to improving lives, knowledge, and understanding worldwide through a highly diversified program of research, education, and services in family health and HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

BACKGROUND:

PROGRESS (Program Research for Strengthening Services) is a new five year project to improve family planning in developing countries. It provides global technical leadership with concentrated activities in selected countries. PROGRESS seeks to improve access to quality family planning services with an emphasis on reaching underserved populations. PROGRESS will achieve this by expanding service delivery options to include integration with other reproductive health services and use of non-health sector outlets. In addition PROGRESS will seek to address medical barriers that limit access to quality family planning services and also promote task shifting as a means for relieving overworked highly trained medical personnel of tasks that can be performed by personnel with appropriate but less training. For this to be achieved PROGRESS will foster and strengthen synergies between its global technical leadership and focus country activities. Activities will include reducing unnecessary medical and policy restrictions, promoting innovative delivery approaches for hard-to-reach groups, identifying new programmatic research areas to generate quality evidence for program innovations, to strengthen use of proven/promising interventions and to improve access and use of appropriate and cost effective contraceptive methods and technologies. All activities will also seek to build the capacity of researchers and of program managers to apply new knowledge.

PROGRESS will concentrate in focus countries and will respond to requests from other country missions for technical assistance to introduce, adapt, and scale up best practices. This work will contribute to global technical leadership (GTL). USAID/India Mission has approved India as a focus country for PROGRESS

<description>TATA Jagriti Yatra is a national project organised by the Jagriti Sewa Sansthan to promote Enterprise-Led-Development ( ELD). This project (currently in the form of a Train Journey) seeks to take approximately 400 youth from across India on an 18 day experiential journey across the country to ‘awaken the entrepreneurial spirit’. The last two yatras, (TATA Jagriti Yatra 08, 09) met with stalwarts like Bunker Roy of Barefoot College, Anshu Gupta of Goonj, Joe Madiath – to name just a few –who dared to be the change they wanted to see in this country. With the resounding success of these two Yatras, we have the opportunity to build this unique program into a national movement .
TATA Jagriti Yatra as a project and Jagriti Sewa Sansthan as an institution seek to target the 500 million ‘middle of the diamond’ Indian population to motivate them through enterprise and entrepreneurship. It is primarily focused on youth, with a particular focus on women. Jagriti also seeks to create a network of entrepreneurs, mentors and collaborators called the enterprise institutions – Jagriti Enterprise Network (JEN), as well as the Jagriti Enterprise Institute (JEI), which allows local entrepreneurs to find guidance and coaching on a local basis for creating Enterprise-Led-Development at the grass roots.</description>

		  <title>Pravah - Associate Coordinator</title>
		  <link>http://www.ngojobs.in/view_opportunity.php?inqId=98</link>
<description>When you work with Pravah you walk the thin line between…
Work and Fun
Sacrifice and Social Responsibility
Indiscipline and creativity
Hindi and English
Black and White
Right and Left
Me and We

ABOUT PRAVAH
At Pravah (www.pravah.org) we support young people bring about the positive change they wish to see – in their own selves and the society around them.
When we started out 15 years ago (Pravah was registered in 1993), that is what we committed to bring about – a society where young people are active citizens – addressing issues of social justice the way they are most inspired to. The founders were all young professionals themselves then – from the corporate, management and development fields. They are still as active in keeping that vision alive.
Today our work has a diverse range – working with adolescents on issues of social justice and conflict transformation, facilitating college students to build their understanding of local and global issues, supporting young people to start their own social initiatives or organisations, building capacities of other organizations through organizational development and programmatic support. We are also engaged in influencing public policy in the field of youth. Our core competence lies in designing and facilitating creative and impactful experiential learning initiatives for the diverse groups we engage with, in order to create a just society – a society built on values of non-violence, love, diversity, interdependence, collaboration and sustainable development. That, besides making a case for youth development in India.

We are looking for Associate coordinators in SMILE, Adolescent Intervention, Change Looms and Partner Cell
SMILE
SMILE offers young people various opportunities to engage with issues of social justice through experiential learning methodologies and creative media. It facilitates a journey of personal transformation for young people and develops their skills to explore, understand and influence change in society on issues they are passionate about. We do this through interactive workshops, hands on exposure to urban and rural social realities through camps (within and outside Delhi) as well as interventions that enhance young people’s skills to impact social change.
Adolescent Intervention
